His insights will deepen our understanding of the most pressing national and global issues and inspire the next generation of leaders.”
Expressing his enthusiasm, Verma remarked, “I’m very excited to be back on campus and reconnect with the Lehigh community over the coming months. Lehigh has been a key part of my life for more than 35 years. The University has been with me every step of the way. I’m grateful to have this chance to engage with students, faculty and staff to discuss a really dynamic time in the international landscape.”

He has served as the Deputy Secretary of State, the Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs, and as National Security Advisor to the Senate Majority Leader. His private sector experience includes his tenure as General Counsel and Head of Global Public Policy at Mastercard, where he addressed complex international challenges. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Verma has been honored with the Meritorious Service Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal and attended Lehigh on an Air Force ROTC scholarship.
