Wildland Fire Training Scheduled in Water Canyon Recreation Area

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – On May 20 and 21, the Water Canyon Recreation Area will serve as the backdrop for a crucial training exercise conducted by the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Winnemucca District. To ensure the safety of the participating firefighters, access will be restricted from the second restroom to the upper end of the campground.

The training aims to integrate new seasonal fire personnel into cohesive teams, address critical safety protocols, and familiarize them with essential firefighting equipment. These exercises are designed to simulate real-world scenarios in a controlled setting, enhancing preparedness for the upcoming fire season.
