BLM Approves Expansion of A&K’s Golden Valley Aggregate Pit in Nevada

In a significant development for regional infrastructure, the Bureau of Land Management’s Sierra Front Field Office has greenlit the expansion of a mineral extraction site in Golden Valley, Nevada. A&K Earth Movers (A&K) has been authorized to expand its operations at the Golden Valley pit, aiming to meet growing construction demands.

The expansion project permits the extraction of up to 2,517,256 tons of mineral materials using standard extraction techniques. This initiative will extend onto approximately 29.5 acres of public land managed by the BLM, located to the north of the current Golden Valley Pit. It is expected to disturb 22.7 new acres of land. The decision aligns with the BLM’s mineral materials policy, supporting public infrastructure projects and construction needs in the region.

An environmental assessment was conducted, resulting in a Finding of No Significant Impact, ensuring that the project complies with environmental standards. For those interested in more detailed information, project documents can be accessed on the Project Home Page.

Inquiries about the project can be directed to BLM Geologist Taylor Burnham via email at [email protected] or by phone at 775-885-6000.
