BLM Approves Geotechnical Investigations for Greenlink North Project

The Bureau of Land Management Approves Geotechnical Investigations for Key Transmission Line Project

In a crucial development for Nevada’s energy infrastructure, the Bureau of Land Management’s Nevada State Office has sanctioned a categorical exclusion for geotechnical studies related to the Greenlink North 525 kV Transmission Line Project. NV Energy is set to conduct these investigations across 68 designated boring sites located within Ely and Battle Mountain Districts, specifically in Churchill and Eureka Counties, Nevada.

This authorization grants NV Energy a 3-year short-term right-of-way to facilitate drilling activities, which are essential for the development design of the project. Each drilling location will have a work area measuring 50 feet by 50 feet, with provisions for overland travel as required.

Stakeholders and interested parties can access the decision memorandum, categorical exclusion documentation, and detailed maps of the drilling sites by visiting this link.

It is important to note that the appeal period for this decision remains open until September 21, 2026. For further inquiries, project manager Brian Buttazoni is available for contact at 775-861-6491 or by email at [email protected].
