UVA Kicks Off New Year with Wahoo Welcome and Exciting Events

The University of Virginia is bustling with excitement as the new academic year approaches. As students settle into their new surroundings, the university is set to launch its celebrated Wahoo Welcome, an event series designed to help students acclimate and engage with the university community.

“We are excited about beginning a new school year. Wahoo Welcome embraces our new students and starts them off in the spirit of building community,” said Dean of Students Nicole Hall.

The festivities will commence with UVA’s 10th president, Scott Beardsley, who, along with Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer Kenyon Bonner, will participate in “Grounds for Conversation” at Old Cabell Hall. This event, scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday, will provide insights into Beardsley’s first eight months in office and his vision for the future.

Following this, the university will host an energetic pep rally, culminating in the Opening Convocation on the Lawn. During this revered ceremony, students will take the honor pledge, committing themselves to principles of honesty and integrity by vowing not to lie, cheat, or steal.

With a new academic year comes new opportunities and experiences for the ‘Hoos. The Wahoo Welcome is just the beginning of what promises to be a memorable year.
