Carrie Buck’s Campaign Tied to Contractor Involved in Bid Rigging Scandal

Controversy Surrounds Carrie Buck’s Campaign Ties to Defense Contractor

In a political landscape where transparency and integrity are paramount, questions arise over the associations of Carrie Buck, a Nevada state senator and Republican congressional hopeful. Her campaign has come under scrutiny due to financial ties with John Buscema, a defense contractor who admitted to participating in a scheme defrauding the U.S. government.

Nevada Current: Buck hitches wagon to defense contractor who schemed to defraud taxpayers

  • During the Fourth of July celebrations, Buck was seen in Boulder City riding a truck owned by Buscema, a figure entangled in a deceptive bid-rigging plot against the government.
  • Buscema, leading S.A.F.E. Structure in Nevada and USA Manufacturing in Florida, confessed to orchestrating a bid-rigging conspiracy from 2014 to 2023 to secure military contracts. This resulted in a $1 million settlement under the False Claims Act.
  • Buscema donated $7,000 to Buck’s congressional campaign as she runs against Democrat Rep. Dina Titus in Nevada’s Congressional District 1.
  • He also contributed $3,000 to GOP Winning Women, a Super PAC that has supported Buck with $28,439.
  • The settlement outlines Buscema’s role in submitting over 100 non-competitive bids, colluding with NOBLE, another defense contractor, to manipulate winning bids unjustifiably.
  • “This is the height of hypocrisy,” said Dick Cooper, a spokesperson for Titus’ campaign, emphasizing that Buck should return the contributions, akin to Buscema’s $1 million settlement with the Department of Justice.
