Villanova University Expands with New Cabrini Campus
Villanova University is set to broaden its academic horizons with the recent acquisition of the Cabrini Campus, a sprawling 112-acre site located in Radnor, Pennsylvania. This expansion is poised to enrich the university’s offerings, aligning with its mission to advance Catholic higher education and foster a dynamic learning environment rooted in the Augustinian Catholic tradition.
Campus Details and Facilities
The Cabrini Campus, acquired on June 28, 2024, will officially open its doors on August 24, 2026. Located just 1.9 miles from the main Villanova campus, the new site comprises 21 buildings designed to support a variety of academic and extracurricular activities.
The campus will serve as a hub for undergraduates from all class years and several graduate programs. It offers cutting-edge classrooms, technology, and laboratories, making it an ideal location for the Department of Ethics, the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, the Department of Education and Counseling, and select facilities for the Department of Communication within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing will also extend two of its graduate programs here, alongside the Mother Cabrini Institute on Immigration.
State-of-the-Art Learning and Recreation Spaces
Students will benefit from advanced facilities such as a vivarium, nursing and simulation spaces, media labs, and specially designed classrooms for education and counseling. Collaborative learning environments and extensive student study areas will cater to both undergraduate and graduate needs.
The 100,000-square-foot Dixon Center and Nerney Pavilion will act as the recreational centerpiece of the Cabrini Campus, featuring an indoor pool, basketball courts, a group fitness studio, fitness centers, and a suspended running track. Outdoor amenities include basketball, volleyball, tennis, and pickleball courts, as well as turf and grass playing fields and a nature trail. The Villanova Field Hockey team will establish its permanent base here, with a new pitch on the former Edith Robb Dixon Field site.
Residential and Dining Options
Accommodating approximately 900 undergraduate students, the campus offers residence hall and apartment-style living, including a dedicated residence, Maguire House, for student veterans. Building names include Lecceto, Francesca, Angelo, Xavier, Josephine, Nicholas, and Thomas Halls.
Dining facilities across the campus, in Bellesini Hall, Cascia Hall, and The Dixon Center and Nerney Pavilion, offer a variety of options from grab-and-go to restaurant-style meals. The campus also features a kitchen free from the top nine allergens, and student meal plans are applicable across both the Villanova and Cabrini campuses.
Spiritual and Transportation Amenities
Spirituality and mission-related programming will be a focal point at the campus, with Sacred Heart Chapel hosting weekly Masses. The Office for Mission and Ministry will provide regular programming and hospitality from the Wolfington Family Suite for Mission and Ministry in Ortiz Hall, which includes a Multifaith Prayer Room.
To ensure seamless connectivity, a dedicated shuttle service and overnight on-demand transportation will operate between the Villanova and Cabrini campuses, available seven days a week.
