Discover the Timeless Craftsmanship of Clore Furniture in Madison County

In the serene foothills of Madison County, Clore Furniture stands as a testament to enduring craftsmanship and tradition. This establishment is more than just a furniture maker; it is a custodian of stories and heritage, where each piece is crafted with meticulous attention to detail.

Among Clore Furniture’s creations, the iconic hardwood rocking chairs hold a special place. These chairs have become a cherished part of the University of Virginia’s Lawn, providing comfort and a sense of history to generations of students.

The creation of these historic chairs involves local artisans who hand-weave the distinctive fiber rush seats from home. They employ a time-honored technique, twisting kraft paper cording into intricate designs. Once completed, these seats are lacquered at the workshop to enhance their longevity, merging tradition with durability. The artisans’ dedication to this rare skill ensures that the chairs remain a vital element of the University’s historic aesthetic.
