University of Arizona Surpasses $3B Fundraising Goal with Fuel Wonder Campaign

University of Arizona Exceeds $3 Billion Fundraising Goal with Fuel Wonder Campaign

By the end of June 2026, the University of Arizona reached an impressive milestone, closing out a record-setting fundraising year of $425 million and surpassing its ambitious $3 billion target for the Fuel Wonder campaign.

“We will continue counting new gifts and commitments through the close of Homecoming weekend in October,” stated John-Paul Roczniak, President and CEO of the University of Arizona Foundation. “I am confident we will add meaningfully to this remarkable total before officially celebrating the campaign conclusion.”

A significant contribution from The Wyant Foundation, amounting to $800,000, helped push the campaign beyond its $3 billion goal. Roczniak noted, “Jim Wyant was among the university’s biggest champions,” and expressed gratitude to Wyant’s widow, Tammy, and son, Clair, for perpetuating his impactful legacy.

The Fuel Wonder campaign commenced on January 1, 2017, initially focusing on fostering momentum and establishing philanthropic partnerships. The public launch of the campaign was celebrated during the 2023 Homecoming festivities.

The campaign’s notable accomplishments include naming three colleges: the James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences, the W.A. Franke Honors College, and the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy. Additionally, several capital projects were completed thanks to donor investments, including the Cole and Jeannie Davis Sports Center, the Alfie Norville Gem and Mineral Museum, the Student Success District, the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, the William M. “Bill” Clements Golf Center, and the Paul and Alice Baker Center for Public Media.

Last year, the university received a transformative $20 million gift from the Garcia Family Foundation, which aims to make study abroad a pivotal aspect of student life, especially for those with financial constraints. This aligns with U of A’s strategic goal of ensuring success for every student.

The Fuel Wonder campaign also benefited from a remarkable $20 million anonymous gift that energized the university’s annual Giving Day. This donation challenged the U of A community to raise $5 million for academic priorities, successfully unlocking a total of $25,699,324 from 1,324 gifts.

Co-chaired by Marianne Cracchiolo Mago, class of 1993, and Terry Lundgren, class of 1975, the campaign has garnered tremendous support. Roczniak expressed his gratitude, stating, “I want to thank the thousands of donors whose generosity has brought us to this point. Their investment in scholarships, faculty excellence, groundbreaking research, patient care, athletics and countless other priorities will transform lives for generations to come. I can’t wait to celebrate with our community during Homecoming, and hope those who haven’t yet supported their area of passion on campus will join us now and see how far we can go, together.”
