Nevada Democrats Engage Voters Amid Rising Costs
This past weekend marked a significant mobilization effort by Nevada Democrats as they spearheaded a statewide initiative to connect with voters on pressing economic issues. Over 50 volunteers participated in more than a dozen canvassing and phone banking events across every congressional district. This initiative, part of the nationwide “Stuff Costs Too Much” Weekend of Action, aimed to engage thousands of Nevadans facing financial challenges.
Volunteers, alongside Attorney General Aaron Ford and the Nevada Democratic slate, engaged with residents to understand how escalating living costs are affecting their daily lives. Stories emerged from different parts of the state, such as a mother in Northern Nevada buying meat in bulk due to rising grocery prices, a young man’s struggle to secure a job that supports his family’s retirement plans, and Southern Nevada families needing to choose between food and utility payments. Seniors on fixed incomes also shared their difficulties in affording basic necessities under the current economic climate.
“Nevada Democrats are doing the work to reach voters where they are and have conversations about the issues directly impacting their everyday lives,” stated Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno. She emphasized that as working families grapple with the high costs attributed to the Lombardo-Trump economy, the party is committed to informing voters about who is responsible for these challenges and who is actively working towards solutions. “I’m encouraged by the amazing volunteers who took time out of their weekend and braved the triple digit weather to connect with voters across the state and political spectrum this weekend.”
