BLM Approves Dodge Flat II Energy Project Near Wadsworth, Nevada

CARSON CITY, Nev. – A significant step in renewable energy development has been taken as the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) gives the green light to the Dodge Flat II energy project. This initiative aims to generate up to 200 megawatts of power over a combined area of public and private lands near Wadsworth in Washoe County, covering 500 and 1,071 acres respectively.

The approval allows Dodge Flat Energy Center, LLC, to embark on constructing and operating an energy facility. This facility will feature a battery energy storage system, an on-site substation, and a 345-kilovolt transmission line stretching a mile to the Olinghouse substation. Upon completion of its lifecycle, the facility will be decommissioned and reclaimed.

Under the directives of Executive Order 14315 and Secretary’s Order 3438, the Department of the Interior is tasked with conducting thorough reviews of wind and solar energy projects. This includes examining leases, rights-of-way, and operational plans, while ensuring compliance with environmental and wildlife protection standards. Enhanced oversight aims to prevent misuse of taxpayer-funded subsidies and ensure projects provide tangible benefits and reliability.

Interested parties can access detailed project information, including the final environmental assessment and resource management plan amendment, on the BLM National NEPA Register.
