Roundabout Construction to Temporarily Close Intersection in Mocksville

Temporary Closure Announced for Busy Davie County Intersection

MOCKSVILLE – A significant traffic shift is set to occur as the N.C. Department of Transportation begins construction on a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. Highway 158 and Farmington Road in Davie County.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, the intersection will be closed to all vehicles. This closure is expected to remain in place for several weeks, with plans to reopen by August 2, provided weather conditions are favorable. More details about the closure can be found here.

During this period, drivers will need to follow signed detours established for both eastbound and westbound traffic on U.S. Highway 158. The Department of Transportation advises motorists to adhere to these detours and allow extra time for their commutes.

The installation of roundabouts is part of a broader initiative to enhance road safety and efficiency. These structures are known to improve safety for all road users, including drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, while also reducing the congestion typically associated with intersections governed by stop signs or traffic lights.

The NCDOT has created an informative video to explain the functionality and benefits of roundabouts.
