USACE Seeks Comments on Dallas Floodway Extension Historic Survey

The Dallas Floodway Extension project, led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), aims to manage flood risks effectively, adhering to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). This initiative seeks to ensure that historic properties are identified and protected throughout the process.

The USACE Ft. Worth District has carried out an architectural survey to assess the potential impact on historic properties in the area of potential effect (APE) surrounding the proposed Lamar Levee on the Trinity River within Dallas. They are actively seeking feedback from stakeholders regarding the survey’s findings and methodologies. These comments will play a crucial role in guiding the USACE’s decisions related to historic properties.

Detailed information, including the draft report, can be accessed by clicking here. Interested parties have until April 7, 2025, to submit their comments, referencing the project name: USACE Determination of Above Ground Historic Properties Present Within the Area of Potential Effect of the Proposed Lamar Levee.
