Pickleball Tournament to Benefit Delaware County Nonprofits Feb. 8

Pickleball Tournament in Delaware County to Support Local Nonprofits

This February, Delaware County will witness a unique blend of sportsmanship and philanthropy as a pickleball tournament is organized to raise funds for local nonprofits. The event, scheduled for February 8, promises to be a fun-filled day for participants and spectators alike while benefiting the community.

The Foundation for Delaware County’s Associates Board, in collaboration with the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County, is at the forefront of this charitable initiative. The Charity Pickleball Tournament will be hosted at the Springfield YMCA.

The tournament is designed to accommodate players of various skill levels, featuring brackets for beginners, intermediates, and advanced competitors. This coed, round-robin style event ensures an inclusive atmosphere for all attendees.

Event registration and check-in will commence at 12 PM, followed by the tournament at 1 PM. Participants can look forward to refreshments after the games. The entry fee is $65 per person. Those interested in joining the event can register here.

The event is generously sponsored by O’Donnell Roofing Co., highlighting the community’s support for local causes.

As the largest grantmaking philanthropy in Delaware County, The Foundation for Delaware County plays a pivotal role in supporting local nonprofits. It stands among the 900 community foundations across the United States, committed to empowering organizations of all sizes.

The Foundation not only provides grants but also facilitates initiatives like the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, offering training and learning opportunities for nonprofit personnel. By creating platforms for effective charitable giving, such as donor-advised and scholarship funds, the Foundation connects donors to causes that matter.

Last year, the Foundation successfully launched the county’s first online giving day, Delco Gives, raising over $1.7 million from more than 9,600 donors for 281 nonprofits. The second annual Delco Gives Day is scheduled for May 8-9, 2025.
