Governor Cooper Appoints Sherri Elliott as Superior Court Judge for Catawba County
In a significant judicial appointment, Governor Roy Cooper has named Judge Sherri Elliott as the new Superior Court Judge for Judicial District 19, encompassing Catawba County. This appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Greg Hayes.
Governor Cooper expressed his confidence in Judge Elliott’s abilities, stating, “Judge Elliott brings a wealth of judicial and legal experience to the Superior Court and will continue to serve the people of Catawba County with distinction in this new role.” He further acknowledged her dedication, saying, “I am grateful for her commitment to continue working for the people of our state.”
Judge Elliott has an extensive background in the judiciary, currently serving as the Chief District Court Judge in Judicial District 36. Her previous roles include serving as a District Court Judge in Judicial District 25 and working as an attorney at Isenhower, Wood & Cilley, P.A. Earlier this year, she was also appointed by Governor Cooper to the Governor’s Crime Commission.
Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Juris Doctorate from the Wake Forest University School of Law, reflecting a solid foundation for her legal career.
