New Leadership at Nevada National Security Sites: Roger Rocha Steps In
In a notable change of leadership, Mission Support and Test Services (MSTS) has announced Roger Rocha as the new President of the Nevada National Security Sites (NNSS), taking effect on December 16, 2024. This appointment marks a significant transition for the organization, which plays a crucial role in the country’s nuclear security operations.
Rocha has been a vital part of the NNSS team for over four years, initially serving as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for MSTS. His efforts have been pivotal in advancing the site’s flexibility, improving interactions with customers and users, and nurturing a balanced focus within the organization.
David C. Johnson, Chairman of the MSTS Board of Managers, expressed confidence in Rocha’s capabilities, stating, “Roger is a proven and trusted leader within the Nuclear Security Enterprise and at NNSS.”
With a rich background in nuclear and high-hazard operations, Rocha’s career spans critical areas such as facility management, safety, security, personnel, and budget management. His extensive expertise makes him a fitting choice to lead MSTS.
Before joining MSTS, Rocha built a distinguished career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), where he invested nearly 25 years of service. His last position at LLNL was as the Deputy Principal Associate Director for Operations, focusing on Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI). Rocha’s tenure at LLNL also included roles such as Deputy Program Director/Division Leader for Operations in WCI’s Primary Nuclear Design Program/B Division, as well as Program Leader for the Nuclear Materials Technology Program.
Rocha is an alumnus of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
This leadership change follows the departure of former MSTS President Garrett Harencak, who vacated the position on November 1.
