Reno Gears Up for Festive Menorah Lighting Ceremony
The City of Reno is set to host a Menorah lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the Reno City Plaza. This event, organized in collaboration with the Chabad of Northern Nevada, signals the start of Hanukkah celebrations.
“We warmly invite everyone to join us in celebrating the beginning of Hanukkah and the joy it brings to the holiday season,” stated Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. She emphasized that “lighting the Menorah under the night sky is a meaningful tradition that unites us and celebrates the spirit of hope and togetherness.”
Attendees of all ages, including families and children, are welcomed to participate in the festivities. The program includes speeches from dignitaries, the ceremonial lighting of the Menorah with candle distribution and blessings, and traditional Horah dancing. Following the ceremony, food will be available for guests.
This celebration is free for the public, and attendees can take advantage of complimentary parking at the City Hall parking garage, situated at University Way and East First Street.
