Public Input Sought for Valmy Lateral Pipeline Project
VALMY, Nev. – A new proposal is under discussion as the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) invites public feedback on the Valmy Lateral Pipeline Project. This initiative involves the construction of a 16-mile buried natural gas pipeline that would bridge the gap between the existing Ruby Pipeline and the Valmy Power Plant in Humboldt County.
The project, if greenlit, would be managed by Pinyon Pipeline Company, LLC, and entails building, operating, and maintaining a 24-inch pipeline along with associated above ground facilities. The route traverses a patchwork of public and private lands in a “checkerboard” ownership pattern located north of Valmy. This infrastructure is a critical step towards converting the North Valmy Generating Station from its current coal-fired operations to a natural gas-fired power plant.
Interested parties can find more details and submit their comments via the BLM National NEPA Register using the “Participate Now” option, which is the preferred method. Alternatively, comments can be mailed to Attn. NV Energy Valmy, c/o BLM NVSO, 1340 Financial Blvd, Reno, NV 89502. The deadline for submitting feedback is January 13, 2025.
