BLM Seeks Public Input on Spring Valley Gold Mine Proposal in Nevada

Public Input Sought for Proposed Gold Mine Project in Nevada

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – A new gold mining project in Pershing County is under review, and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is inviting public feedback on its Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The Spring Valley Gold Mine, which is proposed to be situated 20 miles northeast of Lovelock and 70 miles southwest of Winnemucca, is the focal point of this review process.

Should the project receive approval, Solidus Resources, LLC, will manage the mine’s lifecycle over 29 years, which includes 2 years for construction, 11 years dedicated to mining activities, another 3 years for ore processing, followed by 13 years aimed at closure and land reclamation.

The expansive project spans 10,205 acres of public land alongside 4,418 acres of private land, with a projected land disturbance of 4,123 acres on public lands and 2,109 acres on private lands.

To facilitate discussion and collect public input, BLM has scheduled two public meetings. These sessions will take place on March 12, 2025, at the Pershing County Community Center in Lovelock, and on March 13, 2025, at the Winnemucca Convention Center’s East Hall. Both meetings are set from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. PST.

The release of a Notice of Availability in Federal Register on Tuesday marks the initiation of a 45-day public comment period. Interested parties can view the Draft Environmental Impact Statement and related documents on the BLM’s National NEPA Register. Comments can be submitted using the “Participate Now” feature, emailed to [email protected], or sent to BLM Humboldt River Field Office, Attn: Spring Valley Mine Project, 5100 East Winnemucca Blvd., Winnemucca, NV 89445. The deadline for submitting comments is April 4, 2025.

Additional inquiries can be directed to Project Manager Robert Sevon at 775-623-1500.
