Community Support Pours in for the Williams/Currie Family Amid Tragedy
In the wake of a profound loss, the Williams/Currie family has been enveloped by community support and compassion. Collaborating with the New McFall Funeral Home, efforts have been made to ensure that the family can honor the memories of Darnell and Amillah Currie with dignity and without financial stress.
City officials have taken an active role in orchestrating the visitation and funeral services, aiming to alleviate the emotional and logistical burdens faced by the family. Generous contributions from local businesses and individuals have ensured that all facets of the services, including the repast, are covered, allowing the family to focus on healing.
In addition to these efforts, the Department of Housing & Revitalization is working towards securing stable housing for the family. The goal is to have them settled into a safe and comfortable environment by the weekend, providing them with much-needed stability during this challenging time.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, Mayor Duggan and Chief Bettison addressed the ongoing situation. They emphasized that while investigations continue, transparency remains a priority. Updates will be provided as soon as the 14-day administrative review and the DPD investigation are completed, ensuring that all facts are clearly communicated.
The city stands in solidarity with the Williams/Currie family, offering unwavering support as they navigate through this period of grief. The community’s thoughts remain with them, affirming a commitment to stand by their side.
