Governor’s Volunteer Awards to Honor Over 400 in Iowa on June 25

Celebrating Volunteerism: Iowa’s Tribute to Community Heroes

On June 25th, the spotlight will shine on Iowa’s unsung heroes at Ankeny High School, located at 1155 SW Cherry Street, Ankeny. The 2024 Governor’s Volunteer Awards ceremony, scheduled for 2:00 PM, will honor the remarkable contributions of individuals and groups across the state.

Governor Reynolds will personally acknowledge these dedicated volunteers, highlighting their selfless efforts to uplift their communities. “Those being recognized are the people who invest in others without expecting anything in return—except, of course, for the fulfillment that comes from doing their part to give back to their community,” said Gov. Kim Reynolds. “This collective impact is nothing short of remarkable.”

This year, more than 400 awards will be presented, celebrating the dedication of volunteers who have made a significant difference in more than 85 communities throughout Iowa.

Managed by Volunteer Iowa, a segment of the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (Iowa HHS), the Governor’s Volunteer Award program has been a cornerstone of community recognition for 40 years. This initiative offers nonprofits, charitable groups, and government bodies a chance to honor their volunteers with a prestigious state-level accolade.
