University of Iowa Announces Third Candidate for Law Dean Position

The University of Iowa’s search committee has revealed the third contender for the position of dean at its College of Law, signaling a key step in the selection process.

Lumen (Lou) Mulligan

Lumen (Lou) N. Mulligan, currently serving as the dean and a professor of law at the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law, is the latest candidate. His previous roles include interim vice provost for faculty affairs at the University of Kansas and Earl B. Shurtz Research Professor of Law at the University of Kansas School of Law. Mulligan is also involved with the Rodel Public Leadership Program as a senior fellow, contributing to curriculum development and facilitating discussions with judges across various viewpoints to enhance judicial dialogue and capacity.

Mulligan’s engagement with the University of Iowa community is scheduled for December 9 and 10, during which he will interact with faculty, staff, students, shared governance representatives, and campus leaders. An open forum is planned for Monday, December 9, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Levitt Auditorium (room 295) in the Boyd Law Building, located at 130 Byington Road.
