International Bazaar: Food, Culture, and Community Unite Through Cuisine

Food and Festivities Unite at the International Bazaar

The International Bazaar has long been a hub of cultural exchange, with food serving as a universal language that bridges diverse backgrounds. This year, the event once again drew crowds eager to experience the culinary delights on offer. Kuda Mundove, a Zimbabwean pursuing a master’s degree in health systems engineering, emphasized food’s role in fostering connections among people.

“One of the most common and powerful ways to share culture is through food,” Mundove explained. He recounted overhearing an attendee’s surprise at discovering the versatility of cottage cheese, particularly in reference to a popular dish of the day—paneer curry from Biryani City, an Indian eatery.

The bazaar’s vibrant atmosphere, enhanced by club tables and live performances, kept attendees engaged beyond their usual limits. Mundove mentioned a participant expressing their willingness to stay longer than at other events, attributing this to both the food and the lively environment.

This year’s event introduced a new approach to food sampling. Visitors were given tickets to exchange for samples, enabling them to savor a variety of dishes. This ticket system provided a unique way for attendees to explore the diverse culinary offerings present at the bazaar.
