In a tragic early morning incident, a 37-year-old woman lost her life after being hit by a box truck at a Pittsburgh intersection. The accident occurred just before 5:45 a.m. at the crossing of Terrace Street and Darragh Street. Despite being swiftly transported to UPMC Presbyterian by Pittsburgh EMS, she was pronounced dead at 6:35 a.m.
The City of Pittsburgh Police reported that preliminary findings suggest the woman was in a crosswalk on Darragh Street at the time of the collision. Authorities have successfully identified the driver and located the vehicle involved, with the investigation still in progress.
This incident echoes a similar tragedy from approximately a year ago, when a UPMC shuttle fatally struck a woman at the intersection of Terrace Street and Sutherland Drive, which is just one block away from the recent accident site. More details on that incident can be found here.
