Filming its fourth season in Pittsburgh, “Mayor of Kingstown” has provided an economic boost to Pennsylvania, creating thousands of jobs and investing over $100 million in the state’s economy.
Governor Josh Shapiro has prioritized making Pennsylvania a leader in innovation, job creation, and economic development from the outset of his administration.
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Film Office, under the leadership of Film Commissioner Gino Anthony Pesi, has announced a $30 million film tax credit for the production of “Mayor of Kingstown,” a series starring Jeremy Renner. Currently filming its fourth season in Pittsburgh, the series has created over 2,600 jobs and significantly contributed to the state’s financial health.
Since Governor Shapiro took office, the Film Tax Credits have enticed 72 projects to Pennsylvania, with a remarkable 50 projects greenlit in the fiscal year 2023-24. These initiatives have injected over $767 million into local economies and provided employment for more than 6,700 state residents.
According to Film Commissioner Pesi, “When a TV or film production comes to Pennsylvania it’s a huge driver for the local economy. The Pennsylvania Film Tax Credit program offers a 25 percent tax credit for productions that allocate at least 60 percent of their budget within the state. Eligible projects include feature films, TV series, commercials, and more aimed at national audiences.
