In a significant move for the radiopharmaceutical industry, Nucleus RadioPharma has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Mesa, Arizona, marking a major expansion effort for the company.
Expansion Plans and Job Creation
MESA, AZ (October 21, 2024) — Nucleus RadioPharma is setting up a 53,000-square-foot facility in Mesa, anticipated to be operational by mid-2026, promising to generate 50 new skilled jobs. As the first fully integrated development, manufacturing, and supply chain organization dedicated to radiopharmaceuticals, Nucleus aims to tackle the current shortage of high-quality manufacturing spaces needed for radiopharmaceutical production.
Addressing Market Demands
The new Mesa facility will address the pressing need for development and manufacturing spaces capable of supporting radiopharmaceutical treatments, particularly those in late-stage clinical trials. Alongside another facility planned for Philadelphia, PA, Nucleus will expand its operational capacity by over 100,000 square feet between the two sites. This expansion aligns with the company’s commitment to establishing a nationwide network to meet the increasing demand for theranostics across the U.S., supplementing the Rochester, MN site expected to launch in early 2025.
To reach their full potential as treatments for millions of patients with limited options, theranostic radiopharmaceuticals must be available close to those who need them,
emphasized Nucleus RadioPharma CEO Charles S. Conroy. The expansion promises to enhance patient access to vital treatments and accelerate clinical trials, potentially cutting the time-to-market for new therapies by up to 30%.
Local and State Support
Arizona Commerce Authority’s President and CEO, Sandra Watson, commented on the initiative, stating, Nucleus RadioPharma’s new manufacturing facility highlights Arizona’s thriving bioscience industry that’s developing cutting-edge innovations to improve people’s lives.
She further noted that this development reinforces Arizona’s leadership in bioscience and advances groundbreaking patient treatments.
Mesa Mayor John Giles also expressed his enthusiasm, noting, Their investment brings dozens of well-paying jobs to our city, boosting our local economy and enhancing our reputation as a hub for innovation.
This expansion is seen as a significant economic booster for Mesa, providing new opportunities for the local workforce and reinforcing the city’s role in technological advancement.
