Slide Rock State Park Beer Launch Celebrates Arizona’s Scenic Beauty

Slide Rock State Park’s Scenic Beauty Captured in New Craft Beer Release

Arizona State Parks and Trails has partnered with Historic Brewing Company to introduce a new craft beer, inspired by the breathtaking landscapes and historical significance of Slide Rock State Park in Sedona. This limited-edition beer is the second installment in a series dedicated to celebrating Arizona’s state parks.

An event to celebrate this launch is scheduled at Slide Rock State Park on April 11, 2025, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Attendees will have the chance to enjoy two complimentary tastings of the new beer, along with wood-fired pizza from Pizzicletta. The evening will also feature live music, an interpretive program about the park’s homestead history, other beers from Historic Brewing Company available for purchase, and a raffle for a Flagstaff staycation, which includes guided tours of the brewery and Riordan Mansion State Historic Park. The event supports the Friends of Slide Rock State Park, with tickets priced at $30 and available online at HistoricBrewingCompany.com/AZ-State-Parks.

John Kennelly, co-founder of Kennelly Family Concepts, Inc., the parent company of Historic Brewing Company, expressed his enthusiasm about the brew, stating, “This specialty brew tastes amazing thanks to locally roasted coffee from Sedona’s own Freeform Coffee, and it’s the perfect way to honor one of Arizona’s most treasured outdoor destinations.” He added that Slide Rock’s significance transcends its popularity as a swimming location, highlighting its historical value.

The beer’s packaging features a depiction of Slide Rock during winter, a season often overshadowed by the park’s summer allure. Michelle Thompson, Deputy Assistant Director at Arizona State Parks and Trails, emphasized the initiative’s role in promoting year-round visits: “Slide Rock is iconic in the summer, but the park’s winter charm is sometimes overlooked. Through this partnership, we’re excited to invite people to experience recreation here outside of the popular summer season. Winter, spring, and fall are all great opportunities to escape the crowds and enjoy nature photography, hiking, birding, exploring homestead history, and wildlife watching at this scenic park.”

The Slide Rock Blonde Coffee Stout follows the 2024 introduction of this series, which began with the Kannally Ranch House Mexican Lager, inspired by Oracle State Park’s historic ranch house. The new beer is available at Historic Brewing Company’s Flagstaff and Williams locations, with 10% of sales aiding Arizona State Parks and Trails, an agency that is self-funded through donations and park fees.
