Union County Intersection to Become Roundabout with $3.4M Project

Upcoming Roundabout Construction to Improve Union County Intersection

The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is set to transform a busy Union County intersection into a roundabout, marking a significant step forward in enhancing local traffic flow and safety. This development is part of a $3.4 million contract awarded earlier this year, reflecting the state’s commitment to modernizing transportation infrastructure.

This roundabout will be the second constructed under the current contract. The first was successfully completed at the intersection of Lawyers Road and Indian Trail-Fairview Road earlier this spring. The upcoming project will focus on the intersection of Lawyers Road and Rocky River Road, necessitating a complete closure of the intersection and a detour for traffic.

Construction crews are scheduled to initiate the closure on Wednesday, July 31. During this period, a clearly marked detour will guide drivers from Lawyers Road to Rocky River Road, then to Indian Trail-Fairview Road, and back to Lawyers Road.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution when navigating near the construction zone and to allow additional travel time to accommodate potential delays.
