Arizona State Parks Launches 5-Year Visitor Survey in January 2025

Arizona State Parks and Trails Seeks Your Input for Future Enhancements

Arizona State Parks and Trails is launching a comprehensive 5-Year Visitor Survey in January, inviting park guests to share their experiences and preferences. This initiative aims to gather valuable insights into visitor satisfaction and needs through randomized surveys conducted throughout 2025.

The survey, administered by the University of Arizona’s Agriculture and Resource Economics Department, focuses on gathering anonymous data regarding visitor satisfaction with park services, preferences for various facilities and events, and demographic information. This data will guide Arizona State Parks and Trails in setting priorities for improving services and amenities, enhancing visitor experiences across more than 30 state parks.

Staffed in collaboration with the Arizona Conservation Corps, the survey will explore topics such as how visitors learned about the parks, their likelihood to return, enjoyed activities, and their views on park management aspects like facilities and admission fees. It will also gather information on the origin of visitors and other relevant aspects.

The last economic impact report from 2021 highlighted that visitor spending in and around Arizona State Parks contributed $449 million to the economy, also supporting 4,200 jobs statewide. These parks have a significant economic impact across 13 counties in Arizona.

Operating without taxpayer funding, Arizona State Parks and Trails depends on visitor revenue for maintenance and improvements. The survey results will play a crucial role in understanding visitor priorities to continue offering exceptional park experiences.

Not all visitors will be surveyed; however, random samples of campers, day-use guests, and tour participants will be selected over the year. Participants will receive a complimentary day-use pass for a future visit and a chance to win a $50 Arizona State Parks and Trails gift card, usable for camping, tours, or retail purchases at park gift shops.
