UVA’s Class of 2029: Early Decision Applicants Celebrate Acceptances

Anticipation turned into jubilation across households as the University of Virginia announced early decision results for its Class of 2029. Nearly 5,000 aspiring students awaited their fate, eager to be among the first to know their admission status.

The excitement was palpable among the approximately 1,200 students who received the coveted acceptance message. Their reactions ranged from disbelief to exhilaration, with exclamations such as “Oh my God,” “My heart is pounding out of my chest,” and “I got in!” shared by those who secured a place at UVA.

Scenes of family members donning UVA apparel and gathering around computer screens were common as notifications were checked. In one instance, the joy of acceptance spread through a school bus filled with student-athletes when one of their peers received her acceptance letter, prompting cheers of celebration.

According to Greg Roberts, the dean of admission at UVA, the early decision cycle saw an 11% increase in applications. “We are thrilled to offer admission to this exceptional group of students. As the very first members of the UVA Class of 2029, they set a high bar,” he remarked.

Roberts expressed gratitude for the support provided by parents, guardians, school counselors, and community members throughout the application process. He acknowledged the competitive nature of this year’s admissions and extended hope that all applicants find a college that excites them and brings them joy.

Looking ahead, UVA will continue its admissions process with two more cycles. Early action decisions are expected by February 15, and regular decision notifications will be sent by April 1. These offers are non-binding, and students have until May 1 to confirm their attendance at the university.
