Juneteenth Holiday Alters Recycling Schedule for Residents
This coming Juneteenth, marked on June 19, 2026, will bring adjustments to the regular recycling schedule for the community. As the nation observes this significant holiday, residents should prepare for changes in their usual waste collection routine.
Schedule Modifications
Due to the Juneteenth holiday, recycling collection will not occur on its typical day. Instead, all services will be delayed by one day for the entire week following the holiday.
Specifically, those who usually have their recycling picked up on Monday will find their collection postponed to Tuesday. Similarly, Tuesday’s collections shift to Wednesday, and so forth. Residents with Friday collections will experience service on Saturday instead.
Why the Change?
The adjustment is part of the community’s effort to honor Juneteenth, which celebrates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Recognizing this day allows for reflection and acknowledgment of historical events that shaped the nation.
