MSU Extension Offers Free Online Classes for Parents and Caregivers

Parents, caregivers, and early childhood professionals can now access a comprehensive array of free online classes offered by MSU Extension, catering to children of varying ages. These educational resources are designed to enhance parenting skills and professional development, with diverse topics scheduled for March.

Extension Extra’s Parenting Hour

Join these complimentary online workshops designed to guide parents through the complexities and rewards of raising children. Attendees can opt to participate in any or all of the sessions, held on Tuesday evenings from 8:00 to 9:30 PM ET:

Guiding Principles for Highly Successful Parenting: This five-week series aids parents in establishing routines, managing emotions, and navigating discipline. Participants will learn strategies for becoming calm and assertive parents. MIRegistry Credit and certificates of attendance are provided.

In-Person Workshop: Including All of Us

This comprehensive training emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion within early childhood settings. It encourages educators to reflect on personal beliefs and incorporate anti-bias education. The program is six hours long, available in flexible session formats, and offers MiRegistry approval and completion certificates.

Online Self-Paced Classes

Engage in these convenient online classes at your preferred pace:

Positive Discipline: This course helps adults create environments that foster young children’s self-control. Available in both “parent and caregiver” and “professional” tracks, it offers certificates and professional development hours, along with MiRegistry credit.

Infant Safety: Partnering with the Livingston County Child Abuse Prevention Council, this course covers infant safe sleep, handling crying, and transportation safety. Completion certificates and MIRegistry credit are granted.

MI Parenting Resource: A free program aimed at strengthening parent-child relationships and promoting positive behaviors.
