Georgia Achieves $53.1B in Exports, Outpaces National Growth Rate

Georgia Achieves New Heights with Record-Breaking Export Figures

The state of Georgia has reached a remarkable milestone, with exports surpassing $53.1 billion in 2024, marking a 6.4% increase from the previous year. This growth significantly outpaced the national average of 2.3%, as announced by Governor Brian P. Kemp alongside the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD). As a result, Georgia ascended to sixth place in the U.S. for trade dollar value, facilitating over $198.7 billion in trade across 222 countries and territories.

Governor Brian Kemp highlighted the importance of small businesses in these achievements, stating, “With more than 87% of Georgia exporters being small businesses, these record-breaking numbers represent economic opportunity and success in every corner of the state.” Georgia managed to maintain its 12th place national ranking in export value, with top exports including civilian aircraft, motor vehicles, computers, telephone sets, and medical devices.

Pat Wilson, GDEcD Commissioner, emphasized Georgia’s strengths, saying, “Georgia offers extensive partnerships, expert guidance on export strategies, and top-tier infrastructure.” Key elements of Georgia’s infrastructure include deepwater ports, railways, highways, and airports, which enhance the state’s connectivity to over 200 global markets.

Georgia’s robust international trade efforts are supported by representatives placed in strategic global markets. These representatives contributed to 66% of exports and 83% of bilateral trade in 2024. Lizann Grupalo, Deputy Commissioner of Trade, highlighted the significance of these partnerships: “A fourth consecutive year of record-breaking exports is an incredible accomplishment that requires strong partnerships at all levels, from global to local.”

The state’s logistical capabilities are further bolstered by the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the Port of Savannah, and the Port of Brunswick. The Georgia Ports Authority also reported continuous container volume growth, alongside the state’s extensive rail and highway networks.
