Temporary Overnight Ramp Closure Planned for Pavement Striping in Raleigh
Commuters in Raleigh should prepare for a brief overnight disruption as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements. The N.C. Department of Transportation has scheduled a temporary closure of a key highway ramp to facilitate the installation of new pavement markings.
Starting at 10 p.m. on Sunday, weather permitting, the ramp connecting Interstate 540 East to U.S. 64 East toward Zebulon will be closed. The closure will last until 5 a.m. Monday morning. This operation is part of the department’s efforts to enhance road safety and visibility.
During this period, traffic will be redirected. Drivers will need to detour by taking I-87 South and then exiting at Hodge Road (Exit 6) to loop back to I-87 North. This detour is designed to minimize inconvenience while ensuring a safe environment for road crews and drivers alike.
Motorists are advised to reduce their speed and exercise caution when navigating through the work zone. The department emphasizes the importance of adhering to detour signs and being vigilant during the nighttime hours when visibility is lower.
